Jellie Park = Fun Day Out!!!!

Room 16 had an absolute blast on our Syndicate trip to Jellie Park today.  It was awesome to see the children having so much fun together!!  I know everyone will sleep well tonight!!

Little Gardens

In Room 16 we have been caring for our "Little Garden" plants.  It  has been really exciting to see them beginning to sprout!

Food for Thought - Shared Healthy Lunch

As a follow-up to our class trip to New World last week during the "Food for Thought" programme, we were generously given a voucher to purchase food to make a shared healthy lunch for the class.

We made delicious filled rolls with either ham or chicken, together with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, grated carrot and cheese.  We then finished this off with fruit kebabs with banana, apple, kiwifruit and marshmallows (a wee treat!).

This was a great experience for the class and was very enjoyable!

Trip to New World

As part of the "Food for Thought" programme, Room 16 walked down to New World Belfast yesterday afternoon and carried out activities where they familiarised themselves with reading the labels on food packaging in order to determine what foods are suitable as an "everyday" food or an "occasional" food.  The children have become experts at identifying foods which are healthy for them to eat.

At the end of the trip the children were given a free lunch box and a magnetic planner to go on their fridge at home.

As a follow-up to this trip we will be today planning a healthy lunch for the class.  New World have very generously gifted us a $60 voucher with which to purchase the food items for this lunch. On Monday we will be making a shared healthy lunch, which we are really looking forward to!

Teach Me Tuesday - Amy

As part of "Teach Me Tuesday", Amy taught the students in Room 16 how to write their names in Mandarin.  The students really enjoyed seeing what their names looked like in another language and to have a go at writing them in Mandarin.

Wonka's Fluffy Marshmallow!

Yesterday was another great day in the "Wonka Factory" as part of Book Week, where we made delicious fluffy marshmallow!!

Book Character Dress Up Day!

We all had a great time dressing up as our favourite book characters today and participating in the whole school parade!  It was awesome to see everyone being so creative with their dress-ups!

Wonka's Fabulous Fudge

As part of Book Week, the students in Room 16 made some Wonka's Fabulous Fudge, which turned out perfectly and was absolutely scrumptious!!!

Winter Art

Today Room 16 finished off their winter art, using dye, water colour paint and PVA glue.  We are all extremely proud of how amazing they look!

Soccer Ball Inflatable Chairs

This new addition to Room 16 has got the children very excited - provides a great spot for children to sit and do their work!

Year 5/6 EPro8 Problem Solving Challenge

Today 4 students from Room 16 (Devon Stuart, Ashleigh Peters, Ryder Koskinen and Keegan Arlidge) took part in the EPro8 Problem Solving Challenge where they competed in a team against other schools from around Christchurch.  They worked extremely well together as a team and this hard work paying off with them winning 1st Place!!  We are super proud of their efforts!!

Story Telling - Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Today we got to try some delicious, creamy porridge and used this experience to write poetry about porridge.
